SOUTH STRADDY, Day 9

We left D-bah and headed for the tip of Surfers Paradise late Thursday morning and stayed the night in the carpark for the dawny session at South Stradbroke Island. A boat service usually does trips over the channel to the island for $6 but we thought because it wasn’t meant to be a great day and it was a Friday that he wouldn’t be there. We paddled the channel instead just as the sun was coming up. Thankfully it was slack tide so there wasn’t to much water moving around. The surf was okay, but not the classic straddy peaks I was hoping for. Just as we got a few waves the boat started running so on the way back we hitched a ride (second photo down). Stoked, because by then the current was ripping into the channel and I don’t think the arms would have lasted to well. Afterwards we drove around the corner of the inlet and found a sweet spot under a tree to have a morning nap.
